So I realized I left my last post with a bit of a cliff hanger. I said we were heading to Washington D.C. but then I never told you about it! So as it's been almost a month since then, I've organized some of the highlights to share.
Now when you go on vacation, there are many things to experience like the sights, the sounds, the people, and of course the food. One of our favorite places to stop in for a bite to eat in D.C. is Georgetown Cupcakes. (You may have heard of it from the tv show on TLC) I highly recommend you stop in if you are ever in the area. Their cupcakes are amazing! There are several amazing flavors to choose from, so make sure you get a selection. It's impossible to eat just one anyway :)
To balance out the yummy things we ate we got some exercise by biking around the area. If you ever go on vacation and there is an option to rent bikes for the day, do it! It is so much fun and you get to see things you normally wouldn't if you were driving around in a car. Plus you can tell yourself that you totally deserve eating whatever you want because of all the hard work you did. I'm quite proud of us, we biked 15 miles that day! So our cupcake break in the middle was completely justified :)
Everyone knows that you can't go to D.C. without visiting one of the amazing museums. We went to the Museum of American History on one of the days. Kenson had to get a picture with his favorite British Prime Minister :)
My umbrella from the gift shop is my new favorite thing. I've always loved the cherry blossoms they have all around D.C.
While we were in D.C. we took the time to visit the LDS temple there. It was nice to reflect on the things that are important and realize how blessed I am. Something that came go me is how lucky I am to live in this beautiful country. I know there has been a lot of bad news lately, but there is always good to be found. It all depends on what you look for.
It was a humbling experience to spend Memorial Day touring our country's beautiful capital.
